Matthew Edwards established MJE Engineering in 1991. The firm is based in San Francisco and serves California and Hawaii. Prior to going into private practice, Matt was employed by several respected structural engineering firms. In particular, Matt was mentored by Peter W. Ehlen whose Santa Barbara firm is noted for its design of school and hospital projects. Peter was in turn mentored by Donald F. Shugart who was one of the original founding members of the Structural Engineers Association of California. The methodology developed by our firms over the years is a result of our dedication to our profession.

Matt holds a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and is a licensed civil and structural engineer. Matt also enjoys teaching and has taught engineering design courses at both Cal Poly and UC Berkeley. In addition, Matt has taught various courses administered by the American Institute of Architects. Outside of work Matt enjoys swimming, biking, and playing guitar.
