Matthew Edwards established MJE Engineering in California in 1991. Prior to going into private practice, Matthew was employed by several respected engineering firms. In particular, Matthew was mentored by Peter Ehlen, who in turn was mentored by Donald Shugart, who in 1932 was one of the original first twelve licensed structural engineers in California. Matthew holds a degree in Architectural Engineering from Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, and is a licensed civil and structural engineer in California and Hawaii. Matthew enjoys teaching and has taught various courses at both Cal Poly and UC Berkeley as well as courses administered by the American Institute of Architects.
